Solid Broadheads Anyone use them?

Steve of S&S Archery and Exo Mountain gear makes them. Just watched all the videos and they look Solid (Pun intended) Love to hear some reviews of guys using them.

I might would try them if they came in heavier weights than 100 and 125. they remind me of a cross between a magnus stinger and GK broadhead. Looks like they will get the job done to me. Of course shot placement is key with any traditional gear.

I have used them for three years now. They are a really great head. They hold together well, keep an edge and really fly well at longer ranges. Considering there large profile it's uncanny how well they tune.

I shoot 100 and 125 with .5 and .75 bleeders.

How many bh arrows do you carry while hunting?

Took a hog at 65 yards w my Solid on a 340 FMJ. Ran about 40 yards and piled up. Flew like it was laser guided, and they're sharp. For me, they fly better than any other BH (Helix is a close #2, but the Solid really does fly accurately)

I was initially a bit concerned with the 2 blade design but decided to give them a try and found myself very impressed with everything about the solids. Their sharpness out of the box is truly top notch, head strength and design are out of this world... Really love how tightly they fit together and how well they fit on my ACC Pro Hunters.

I took a buck with a Solid last season and it truly looked like a chainsaw masacre had occured on the hillside. I couldn't believe just how devastating that head was. Zipped through the deer and buried itself deeply into a tree behind him... And only at 63# draw. Very impressive results from these heads !

Used Solids on all hunts in 2014 and they did great. I was able to get a Solid into this fella two months ago, worked just fine albeit out of a compound and not a trad bow... That said, I will be doing my best to arrow a bear this spring with a trad bow and a Solid tipped arrow.

I have been testing them and they certainly do fly well. I was hoping that the other broadheads I was testing them against would have flown better because its hard to get used to their size but the solid was definitely the best flying out of the ones that I tested. The only thing that came close for me were wac ems and the solids are just built so much more sturdy that I think I am going to give them a try this year.

The only thing that has me worried is the blood trail of a two blade with bleeders vs a three blade. Judging from the pic above and the comment above that doesnt seem to be an issue. Anyone else have any experience with solids and bloodtrails?

gelton, I can't comment much on the blood trails as I haven't had to rely on it to find the few animals I've taken with a Solid. They all fell over in sight What I can comment on is the amount of blood immediately visible on two caribou once the arrow hit them, I can assure you, those particular bloodtrails would have been quite easy to follow.

The blood trails I have had had been comparable to other fixed blade heads I have killed with. That is predominately dictated by shot placement. They been more then adequate for me.

I did a review on them last year on the Rok .Blog if you want to do a search on the blog. They flew great, were tough as nails. I didn't shoot an animal, though.

For years my dad and uncles insisted on MA-3s. I loved these broadheads. They were incredibly easy to sharpen, got real sharp, and presented a cutting edge to the target from the start. The main competition at the time were Muzzies. The uncle and dad didn't like the transition from the bullet point to the blade, instead they prefered the cutting edges coming to a point. I have seen them sever spines on mule deer, dropping them on the spot. Deer running away, center of mass shot. I learned to trust my dad and uncles; they were for years professional archers, invited to the Olympics in the 60s, granddad owned an archery shop, held one of the first patents on releases, dad built Groves bows as an afterschool job. They held accuracy records, distance records and game and fish records in two states for years.

Has anybody had a problem getting them on time? I would hate to lose some during antelope season (highly likely) and order some more and them not be on time for elk season.

Been using them ever since Steve released them very good head.

On one head I think I'm up to 8 or 9 deer, and a pig or two. I hate using them on pigs because that's just an itching for losing one.

I usually carry three solids and two ulmers.

None. They shoot to the same point of impact for me. I have a bunch of both. I tend to use the .5 on bigger stuff like moose and elk and the .75 on smaller thinner skinned game. I wouldn't be afraid to use .75 on everything in all hoenstly if that was what I had.
