Socks that fit

I picked up a pair of Kuiu socks at one of their sales and have been pleasantly surprised how well they fit. My feet/ankles aren't fussy though.

What temperature are you all washing your darn tough socks to get them to shrink that much? Cold wash and air dry all my clothes, no shrinkage in my house.

I used to wear Redhead (Bass Pro) wool socks with boots all the time. Comfier than Darn Tough IMO and pretty durable. That being said, I moved to Darn Tough when Bass Pro ditched their warranty.

The Mongulai socks wore through in about 8 months for me. Wore them almost daily for work though. They made my feet sweat a lot, which happens with merino too.

OP - what type of Darn Tough's have you tried? I wear the Stride Micro Crew Ultra-Lightweight Running Sock (Style 1036) with injiji synthetic liners in 8" Timberlines. Got pretty thick calves and that combo works well. Cuff of the boot is just below where my calves start to get thick and that sock pairing stays in place well without irritating my calves.
I had the same experience

Costco merino wool trail socks or whatever they call them now. I have used them for at least 20 years wearing for work and winter as well as hiking. Usually last about 5-6 years and on my feet wear a hole in the heel. Recently I have been using 100 % synthetic socks, my feet sweat a lot and these work better for me.
