FWIW, without a smaller stuff sack, a little compression from your pack and the thing ends up pretty small anyways.

Planning to do a 3-4 day hunt coming up soon with my DST. Hiking into a couple new areas that look promising and looking forward to trying the DST...will be first time using it out on a hunt. All the photos of good looking pitches are encouraging!

The DST worked great for me. The weather panned out and I avoided early snow and most precip, but the DST setup nicely and made a nice shelter. Definitely have a lot of confidence going into the next outing…

Did a practice run at the house beforehand. Attempted the same configuration in the field. Didn’t make camp until late so photos in the dark is all I got

I read this wrong the first time, thought you were being rude and telling me to pack it up

Yeah that might be the only way to avoid bugs for a few hours. Guess one could hang it too, air it out and it would most likely dry out too. Unless winds picks up and takes it away...

At 6oz the Borah is hard to beat.

I did 7 nights under a tarp with a Borah Bivy last fall and loved it. Had my entire sleep system down around 5lbs-6lbs. The enclosed pyramid “tent” I used the most. I liked that it was the least drafty and provided good protection from the elements.

The closed end A-frame with a carabiner door was good too but it was in the 20’s the night I pitched it and the downhill cool air draft coming through the open end was a little chilly. Overall, tarp camping and the versatility it provides will continue to be part of my arsenal.

(Not a SO tarp…)

I like an enclosed shelter, so I’m either using that pitch or the enclosed pyramid when tarp-bivvying, which is most of my hunt camping. That one has more space, but is a little more drafty than the enclosed pyramid, so I go with that one on warmer nights and the pyramid on colder nights.
