We did the Florida thing for 8 years. Made out really well when I sold that house at almost 3x what I paid.
It was really nice, and way too far for a second home. If we didn’t have all the damn animals to haul 2300 miles….nah, still too far. It was cool tho.

You want to keep all the resident tags you get the snow too.

We could say that for Colorado’s southern mountains in summer. Walked into a shop with my Wife in Lake City and was greeted with, “Howdy, where y’all from”. My short answer was Colorado.

We were headed south. Then my old 12 year old, 110 pound Rotweiller wasn't able to get on and out of the vehicle on his own....and I can no longer help him!

Yeah it was interesting at times. I could always count on the orange cat to take a dump in the litter box 10 minutes after starting the morning drive and having to stop 11 minutes into the drive to clean it out. Stinky lil guy.

Or the time we stopped in the middle of nowhere NM and I let the dogs out for a break, only to have them barking at a coiled rattle snake 5’ away.

Or the time we stayed at a cheap motel in Tallahassee and I was walking the dogs in the wooded area behind it and was confronted by a couple of urban yoots. Talked my way out of that one, told them the barking dog was a Pit golden and I wasn’t sure how long I could hold him back.

it was pretty nice once we got to fish camp and it took a week to calm down once we got there.

Agreed on the RV path. We've traveled all over the place in ours chasing weather. Even when we stay in AZ, we can go up in elevation to get out of the summer heat of the valley.

We will be landing on the Texas Gulf coast tomorrow afternoon to camp and fish by the water for the next two months. Love it. We live in the CO mountains at 8600', and March-April are usually our worst weather months.

Ironically we had to drive 50 miles through a hellacious snowstorm in Texas yesterday. Fortunately my truck has great tires and 4WD. Two wheel drive vehicles were off the road everywhere. Now relaxing under the awning where it's a perfect 77 degrees, having a cold one andkicking back before the last short day tomorrow.

The timing also works well so cnelk can help remodel our house while we're gone for two months! Our RV spot is about 100 yards from the water, and we can fish without driving anywhere. Love leaving winter behind for awhile.

If our summers continue to get hotter (and more smoky) I’m going to do the reverse snow bird. I’ll summer in coastal Alaska and spend the rest of the year in Montana.

This sounds more appealing to me than disappearing for the winter. The smoke in my opinion is almost intolerable. It’s getting so bad and ruins summer

Man, there was a little restaurant there that had the best calzones I've ever had. Every time I went through I had to stop for one. Then a couple years ago, it was shut down. Pretty sure a Covid casualty.
