Out of curiosity... how much does it take off your weight?

4 oz. same weight as a hacked LH lid over a standard lid 4 and 8 respectively

While the pack pictured is not one of the "cool kids" on Rokslide, it reminds me that Someday I may need that extra capacity to pack out camp and Meat all at one time. I keep the snow collar.

Where did you dig up that photo John? That was pre Kifaru and had two sitka Blacktails and camp in it. In its day that was one of the best packs available. I cut the top collar off of my DT1. It still will carry more than the pack in the photo. I just thought it got in the way. So far it has worked out great and I have no regrets. Ed F
