I can highly recommend Turtleskin. I have both the gaiters and full chaps to protect against Timber Rattlers. The chaps zip along the inside and fasten to your belt. Very comfortable, light, and flexible. I think you'd like them.

I have a pair of turtle skin full chaps, they are definitely the standard. I used them for week and haven’t had need of them since. Message me if you decide to go that way, I might could save you some money.
