Smokers always know the wind direction.
I hear they’re bad for ya. So is scotch. I’ve been known to indulge in both at camp, but not during the day when I’m hunting.
By “getting winded” do you mean running out of breath? Or having the scent of your stinky stogey picked up by your quarry? Cigs can certainly cause either of those things.

Sounds like experiment time.i’ve had deer wind me from like 80 yards, i check wind climb tree and then i’ll have a wind change and get screwed out
