I'm looking to do my first smoked elk cook. Any recommendations for me? Temperature... Spice mix for seasoning... Cut of meat... Time... Wood chips?

Well, what are you smoking?

Tender loin?
Backstraps? Whole or medallions?
Roast?

How do you like your venison?
Bloody or just a touch of pink?
 
Best piece of advice my bad gave me about smoking was you get the quality of meat out of the smoker that you put in. A lot of folks try to make Jerkey from crappy cuts, and that is precisely what you get back
