Smallest full framed turkey gun

Glad I came across this thread, I have a mini bantam that I bought for the kids years ago and it's already too short for my 11yo. Think I'm going to order that adjustable stock and turn it into a turkey gun!

Picked up a Stevens 301 410 for turkey this year. After studying up on the 410 with TSS, I'll let my son lug the 870 12 gauge around this year. The 301 feels like a toy in my hands and ridiculously light. Started as a kid with an Ithaca M-66 super single 410 and now back to a 410. I've come full circle.

I just bought the Stevens 410 today myself. Looks like a great choice for my daughter and sure beats the price on the Mossberg mini bantam. I may spend a bit more and put a red dot on it. I don’t know right now. I’ve been throwing a ton of money at my wife’s car fixing every little thing it seems like and now the water pump is shot. Her car is a beast to work on and I cuss the dang engineers that designed it!

Think you/she are going to love it. Get your TSS from Rogers sporting goods, definitely the best deal I’ve found and makes it a little more affordable haha.

Also these holosun sights works great on these guns and palmetto has them for a great price. Think I was all in for a little over $350 including red dot, hard to beat for a great Turkey gun.

Stock ordered!
Need a red dot and choke recommendations for this gun.

I love the idea of super light and short turkey guns. I'm always busting brush or crawling, and my 870 is dang near 50" long with the choke and weighs 8lbs! Killed plenty with it but would like something lighter. I'm buying the Maverick 88 Bantam 20 ga- its 39" long and 5.25lbs. Same specs as the Mossberg 500 Bantam but its half the price. Pair it with a adjustable stock and you're still only into it about $400 at most. The 510 mini is about 3.5" shorter and 4oz lighter but that gun is near double the cost of the Maverick as well.

Then next year I'll probably have the whole thing dipped by Tarjac in Mossy Oak for a couple hundred bucks.

If only Mossberg made the 510 Mini in 28 gauge with the integral red dot mount on the receiver. That would be a handy little gobbler getter.

Here's mine 20 Gauge Gobbler.

The meadow creek rib mount is the way to go. I'll never mount one on the receiver again. It allows way better field of view, and the red dot controls are right by your hand if you need to adjust.

Interesting. I didn't know about this company. While we can argue about the "field of view" differences of red dot placement, I never considered the advantages of having the controls by your support hand. That's a plus.

I've used Aimpoint S1 and S2 on the rib, and they sit low, but this Meadow Creek mount looks like it sits high. In my mind, the ultimate place for a red dot on a turkey or predator shotgun is low and on the receiver like the new Mossbergs with an optic cut.

It is slightly higher then an optic tapped directly to the receiver, as it has a mounting plate. The benefit over the S2 is the cost and will take nearly any optic. Sits lower then a optic attached to a picatinny rail like majority of turkey guns have. The Mossberg RMSc optic cut is sweet

IMG_8527.jpegI love mine. Short, light and patterns great. And the trigger has gotten a bit better w time? Haha

Now, the this finish is comically bad, the slights bit of moisture make it break out in hives, oil is your friend.

Seriously, it’s a slick little turkey slayer if you like to put miles down during season.

I like the idea of a single shot for the weight, but there have been enough times that I needed a follow up round right away that I prefer a pump. Or the new Eventide over/under would be pretty sweet too.

Gotcha. I keep a shell handy, soooo

I have to say TSS it’s pretty darn devastating on birds. Then again I don’t try super long shots. The only time I’ve had an issue is on a pig, and I shot farther than I should have,
