Sling for gun with suppressor

What are you using for a sling for a bolt action with a can on it? I have a quake and the gun is so heavy on the end it literally flips upside down unless I hold the butt of it.

I have a bergara HMR 6.5 CM, my barrel is 4 inches longer looks like. Just changed the stock to a manners and cut 2 pounds off the back end. My form 1 can is 10 inches and weighs about 1 pound.

I switched to a Gun Bearer 3 years ago and haven't used a sling since. Certainly won't (can't) try to flip around on you. Was having similar problems with some of my lighter rifles w/ suppressors on them.

Got it, that's a lot of rifle for sure, makes sense it would roll on you. Have you tried a Kifaru Gun Bearer? I use it on my pack for backcountry hunts. Works well.

Should have added, thinking about for my small backpack not my larger pack....No belt strap there.

You can try flipping your sling around and carry the rifle with the buttstock under your armpit, barrel down. Old school scout sniper method for carrying heavy M24s.

I'm convinced the right answer is always the slogan outdoors ultraflex. It will keep a 26" barrel plus a can upright on my shoulder.

Kifaru gunbearer and use a full sized, compressed pack. That way you can quarter and pack the meat out same trip

Resurrecting to see if anybody has additional solutions. Same issue as OP. Sometimes I have a pack and sometimes I do not. Using a quake sling as well and the spinning gets old quick. The ultraflex looks interesting.

Flush cups mounted on the LEFT side of the rifle (forend and butt stock) is the best solution.

Sling swivel studs mounted on the underside of the stock’s forend and toe of the butt stock is a hopelessly retarded way to attach a sling. Especially with a front heavy rifle…due to a long barrel and suppressor.

That’s good to hear. I’ve got a Mesa on order for an upcoming Tikka build and asked them to add the flush cups as part of the order. I was considering adding them to another Tikka build I have as well but was planning to see how these did.

I absolutely agree. The problem is that my AG Chalk Branch that doesn’t allow for a front QD cup. At least, that’s what AG says. Maybe people are adding them.

I ended up getting a shorter rifle to cut the leverage down….also got a gun bearer but the short barrel was a huge help.

Great, I believe you’ll be happy with your decision to use flush cups.

Just to confirm / re-emphasize ….. the flush cups should be mounted on the LEFT side of the stock and not on the bottom of the stock.

Correct, I confirmed placement with Mesa before submitting the order a few weeks ago. Really wish the chalk branch could support them.

Super long shotgun sling mounted to the same points as a normal sling but then ziptied a few inches up the barrel. Changes the balance enough to work. My next big investment is going to be a piece of electric tape to cover the pokey end of the zip tie and stop it from sliding.
