Sleeping in tent with kids and firearms

When youre out camping with your kids, find a bug or spider or something. Sit down with them and show them the bug and the handgun.

Then smash the bug with your foot and tell the kid thats what will happen if you play with the gun.

Funny how kids can relate to squished bugs...

I don’t take one, I personally don’t see a need. Where we live there are higher concentrations of mountain lions and bears than in the backcountry and I actually let them play outside by themselves unarmed. If I did take one, I like the idea unloaded with magazine on my person.

Something biometric from Vauktek might fit the bill. I have a slider model next to the bed, which I like, but their other pod-type models would secure it from curious fingers and still be quickly accessible..

The thing about having a firearm for protection is all these safety measures negates the ability to deploy in a timely manner. So, what is your fear? Humans? Or animals? Camper or tent?
