I'm building my kit to start backpack hunting. Until now, I've been using a wall tent at the trailhead. I picked up a 4 man seek outside tipi and small ground tarp. I'm looking at the feathered friends snowbunting 0 degree down bag in regular length. 2lb 13oz, 900+ fill, $599.99. I also looked at western mountaineering and sea to summit but leaning toward FF. Looking to pair it with the therm-a-rest neoair xlite or xtherm. I'd probably pick up a liner also.

The system would be used with the tipi in Colorado for mainly 4th season mule deer hunts. I may use it for Nebraska December muzzleloader.

Recommendations on a light weight bag and pad combo? Is a 0 degree bag the right choice for planned use? Not interested in exploring quilts at this time. Thanks guys.

I'd say you've got a pretty good plan, 100% go with the xtherm, the warmth gain per weight gain is very worth it for a late season hunt. I have both and as soon as the temperatures dip I pack the extra 8 oz no questions asked.

Snowbunting and Xtherm are an outstanding combo for your needs. . . You should be good to sub-zero with some moderate layering. I've used their Ptarmigan bag and was highly impressed.
