I’m looking to grab a new sleeping bag for an upcoming mule deer hunt in Alberta next fall. Hunt will be last week of Sept, so nighttime temperature around 0-10C.

The bag will mainly be used for base camp hunting, snowmobile hot tenting, etc. but every 3 or so years I’ll be taking it on a back country hunt.

Given that I’m not looking to spend the money on a high end argali, SG, WM, etc.

Does anyone have experience with Tiaga sleeping bags out of Vancouver? They seem to have decent specs and cost for my situation (~500 CAD vs $1200 for the others)

Looking for a 20F bag.

Mostly Public Service announcement related to the OP's question.

I know OP isn't interest in the high priced brands like WM but if other readers hit this post due to the question on bags, or if the OP has change of mind, then "Hermits Hut" in CA is perhaps the best dealer to work with.

Hermit Hut owner is a great guy. Legit mountaineer. Small boutique mountaineering shop with a long history. Personal service, but maybe not "speedy service".

WM does not allow price discounts on their bags but they do allow Hermit's Hut to sell WM bags with "free" overfill. IMO that is a meaningful benefit. I own (or bought for family members) lots of down products and several WM and FF bags (WM bags are better than FF bags IMO). Overfill is a good option, especially when "Free".

Occasionally a mass online retailer has a glitch in their systems and you can sneak under the radar and load a WM item in the cart when they run a 20% store wide sale. I've done it. But I think vendors like WM may have cracked down because just for sport I've tested applying "store wide" online retailer discounts on items that are usually excluded and it hasn't worked.

Hermit's Hut; WM bags with free overfill

Thanks, that’s good to know for the future!

I also don’t want to limit this to a “is taiga good thread”, they are currently my top option. Looking for other options as well.

From Tiaga I’m current looking at the cloud 9 mainly, but also looking into the night express or the Shangri-la

I’m a hair under 6’ and 180lbs. Was thinking if need the L
