You might want to consider a quilt. I much prefer mine to a bag as I'm a side sleeper as well. Both HammockGear and Enlightened Equipment make excellent quilts. Search more on Rokslide as there have been a lot of threads on this topic.

Good luck!

I'll also recommend considering a quilt. If you're still sure you want a bag, I'd get a WM Alpinlite. It's very light at just under a pound, but has a generous 64" shoulder girth. Might be just a bit out of your $ range, but not by much.

I love my Marmot Hydrogen bag. It's a 30 degree but well under 2 lbs and compresses down to 5 liters

Thanks guys I will look into it . How's warmth to weight ratio is it close to a good quality bag or am I giving up size and warmth to have some extra shoulder room?
Also do I need a pad with a quilt Ty

EE quilts look roomier then most bags I looked at. I'll try to reach out to them tomorrow see if they could fast ship it. What size pad ?

That has more to do with how you sleep than how big you are. I use a standard size Xtherm with my quilt and it works very well for me.

It doesn't matter whether you are using a bag or a quilt, you still need a good pad if you want it to work to it's rating.

I'm 6' and 250 and I'm comfortable in my Wiggy's. I have a couple older MH bags as well, but I use one of my Wiggy's the most often. I have a Glacier Hunter from Marc at the Anchorage store. It's a 15 bag, only available from him; not on the Wiggy's site. He took the same amount of fill, but moved most of it to the top of the bag where it's not wasted by you laying on it. It's a roomy bag and it's not "heavy" like a lot of people claim Wiggy's to be. It's not Z-Pack light, but a synthetic bag and for the amount of material used to enclose my fat ass, it's fine for weight and packed size. Don't remember the exact price, but sub-$300. If you're open to a synthetic bag, I'd put it up against any bag out there. It's a well-thought out product and I love that I fit in it.

I would look into the quilt, Im 6'1 205, and a side sleeper and just switched to a quilt. I just got back from a four day trip using it and loved it. I have the Sierra Designs backcounty quilt. Its larger and longer than most quilts and has a built in hood at a decent price. I use a BA Q core SL wide long (its so worth the price /extra weigth).
