First post on this forum. Appreciate any advice.
Living in Bozeman, been out for wolves a bunch in region 3 and WMU 316.
Been on some tracks but haven’t heard anything yet.
Looking to take a few weekend trips up to northwest MT where the wolves seem to be the most populated. I ski into the zones most of the time; with little expectation of finding wolves, I figure I can get a good ski out of every outing.
I’m looking for recommendations for good snow pack and wolf pack combination areas in region 1. Thanks.

There are wolf tracks everywhere up here, but seeing live animals is very difficult. The brush is thick and the mountains are steep. I have yet to see one and guys I talk to that have lived here for decades have mostly seen none or one in the NW.

There's some areas I think you'd be more likely to get a wolf than others, but idk. I'm not huge into giving info to FNG's that first thing violate the second etiquette guideline of the site.

I’d keep looking in the area you are seeing tracks. Wolves have been in yellowstone for decades, you will run into them eventually. You can always ask some of the pro wolf groups around Bozeman where you could ski to see them. Who knows, maybe you get some spots out of it.
