sizing help sitka rain gear

I ordered a set of Sitka Dew Point rain gear and according to their sizing chart I needed a large jacket and pants. When I received them they seem too true to fit not tight but no room to spare. So I ordered a set of extra large, and this set seems a tad baggy but not over sized. Now I have two sets of these setting on my bed right now and cant decide which ones to keep. So my question to you is this, do you like rain gear that is true to fit with little room to spare or do you prefer to have them with extra room to spare? What about mixing sizes like the smaller pants and larger top?

Questions to help you answer your questions:

Are you putting them on over your regular hunting gear?

If the large in pants are good throw on a pair of Traverse under your pants. Is that still got room and comfortable? When you bend over does it feel like your putting stress on the seam running up your middle? If its comfortable stick with the large with the traverse and pants on if its tight then size up.

Coat - Put your puffy on under the rain coat can you move freely? If not move to the XL coat.

You want to always choose thinking worse case scenario. If the Larges only fit right with just clothing on but seem tight when you move then you want to size up.

That would be best advice for you. Having Options to layer is important. if your a little baggy with just the clothes and rain gear then and cant wear thermals or a puffy then your limiting your options.

I always always err on the side of a little big is ok just so I can add layers underneath. No way would I have a rain jacket that I couldn't fit my base layers and at least a puffy underneath

I have that set and I have my pants sized so I can wear my base layer and pants under them and the coat so I can wear base tee and vest. I want to be able to put them on over what ever I'm wearing to wait out a storm. My pants are a size smaller than the jacket.

If your wearing rain gear on the move you won't likely have many layers underneath. my .02

Like SHTF said, it depends on how you want to use it, and like the others, I'd error on the side of larger. Better to have more room and not need it than not enough room and need it.

As far as the depends, I've got summer rain gear that I know I won't be wearing a puffy under so it fits closer. But my colder weather stuff, I know I'll have layers so those sets of rain gear fit differently.

I'd go with the larger as well. Another thing to think about is that the more that the material is stretched the more prone to leakage it will be and may be torn by brush easier.This might come into play with the smaller size and layers underneath.
