Looking to lock down a single person tent option for backpack hunting. Interested in both of these based on other threads and reviews - anyone have particular experience with both or thoughts in general? Thanks.

I used the Six Moon Designs LS for my 2017 Colorado 7 day trip and it was great. Used a Tyvek sheet as a ground cover. Cleaned and stored the tent dry.

I do backcountry hunts every other year, and on the first day of my 2019 trip the main seam along the ridgeline ripped and even with a patch kit was essentially a catastrophic failure due to the amount of rain we had that week.

I loved the tent up until that moment. Spent a lot of this last trip under a spare tarp in a makeshift shelter made with pine boughs. Small sample size, but I'm looking elsewhere for next year.

Neither are great options if you expect to encounter a lot of wind. If you stay out of the wind they are still in play. I would look at a Tarptent Moment DW, or a Notch. 30d silnylon and made in Seattle.
