Sitka Stratus vs Fanatic Sizing

I am looking to purchase the fanatic set, but my local store only carries the stratus for me to try on. It fits very athletically, but seems awfully short. I tried a medium on over a medium Kelvin vest and there were 2 inches of the kelvin vest exposed beneath. I'm a pretty solid medium in just about everything, but I worry that the fanatic medium would be too small, or the large will be too big. I would like to be able to add layers to the fanatic for single digit muzzleloader season as well. I'm 5'9", 165 pounds. Any advice on sizing?

Thank you!

I have the Stratus & Fanatic jacket both in XL and they basically fit the same. The Stratus is uninsulated vs the Fanatic which has insulation so they do fill different but I would say the sizing is very close.

God Bless.

I guess the most important question is should I size up in the jacket or pants or do the sizes accommodate laying? I'm thinking going with a large jacket and sticking with the medium pants. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you!

My Fanatic XL fits as expected with room for layers underneath. The length of the body of the jacket is more bomber-length than that of a what you might think of as a parka. Really made to be part of the system with the bibs. Seems to me that the shorter length on the jacket allows for less worry of it getting in the way of your bowstring, but the trade-off is that bibs are needed for low-back warmth during colder sits. Great quality nonetheless.
