Went to Cabelas last night and picked up a set of Sitka Mountain pants last night for 110. Couldnt pass them up. Not a huge sitka fan, but this was to good of a deal. What is your guys opinion on them?
#1 The tack strip in the waist band.
#2 The knee pads.
#3 The rubberized ankles.
#4 One handed belt operation.
Worst things, (not that they are that bad)
#1 Removing the knee pads for washing.
#2 No thigh zips for venting.
I use them mostly in cooler weather. Not a lower elevation, July and August pant in my area.
Late September and October, they are perfect.
In hotter conditions a pant like the Kuiu Tiburon or a Kryptek Valhalla are lighter and breathe way better.
I do wear the Mountain pant in the high country in summer. 11,000 feet.
It often frosts in July up there. I have had it snow, hail and frost in July. The mountain pant is good for those back country trips.
You should like them.
If you don't, you can probably sell them and get your money back. $110 is a good price for that pant.
I think they're a great all around pant. I wear mine from shed hunting in the spring, to late season hunts. I can't find anything I don't like about them. The knee pads can be a pain to get out though I agree. Good buy, hope you like them!
Thanks for the input! I just used them in the BWCA wilderness here in MN. High 70's and I liked them. I am looking forward to using them this September.
