Sitka Layering help.

Looking for some advice concerning layering. I currently own the Traverse Zip Tee and Core Zip Tee. I am looking at the Jet Stream vest and and the Traverse Cold weather hoody to complete the system. Would this be an acceptale set up for a hunt where temp could be down to 10 degrees starting with the core zip tee, traverse zip tee, jetstream vest and then the cold weather hoody? I am just curious about the correct layering. Thanks.

For my body I need a puffy jacket and hard shell to cut the wind at those temps. Maybe even a puffy vest as well if i'll be sitting.

Yeah Id say skip the soft shells and go with a puffy with Traverse. You get more warmth to weight ratio out of a puffy. My setup is the Longsleeve Zip T either the Synthetic or the Merino, Traverse with Hood, and the Puffy either vest or long sleeve hoodless. I own them both. When Im hiking and its chilly I use the Zip Tee and the Traverse, When Im sitting or its really cold out I throw on the puffy or puffy vest to keep my core warm. Just depends on weather report and if I pack the vest or the full jacket.

I prefer the the Jetstream vest as it's a windstopper. My current setup is core, traverse, jetstream, and have a Kelvin lite hoody when stopped. I've not used that hoody but imo you need a substantial layer if your planned to be stationary long at >10*

I agree on skipping the soft shell and going with a puffy and the traverse. However, for really cold weather and snow I have really really liked the Coldfront jacket. That thing blocks wind extremely well and I feel is a great top layer for cold weather. I’ll be putting a review together soon of that set.

I have the traverse cold weather hoody and the Jetstream vest. I also have the kelvin lite hoody. I use the kelvin way more than the traverse. The traverse does almost nothing for wind. The vest helps, but my arms get chilly when its cold and a breeze. I hardly wear the traverse honestly. The kelvin is light, warm, does a good job of blocking wind, and has done well in light rain when I forgot a shell
