Hey boys, been a minute.

I'm back to tinkering again. Caught a great deal on a kryptek lykos 2 on optic planet so I thought Id try it out.

Here is how it stacks up compared to the kelvin aerolite after some cursory testing.
First off-
I have 2 Aerolites. Got one brand new on sale and one gently used for a dumb price. After this I'll be selling the one that I bought new so if anybody needs an xl in subapline, super super lightly used let me know.

The aerolite is lighter and has a slightly trimmer cut in the body. Honestly you could put them on in the dark and have no real idea which was which. Neither is particularly stretchy but they both move well. I wore them both shoulder a shotgun, shoveling some snow and I have hundreds of hours in my 2nd aerolite. I have not been gentle in my 2nd aerolite and it honestly has withstood everything. I have used it as active insulation, taken it elk hunting, duck hunting, turkey hunting you name it.

I'm a pit of a whore for puffy jackets.

To be honest my preference is normally down. However I wanted a wet weather puffy so I originally bought the aerolite and have been totally happy with it.

It's not nearly as warm as other Puffys I have but it does great for the weight and it's been bulletproof. I would not call it a full year puffy. It's more like a shoulder seasons puffy, or a september warm weather but need a bit extra glassing puffy. My only complaint with the aerolite is that its not as warm as some of the others I have but it has been more than adequat for most things.

Trying the lykos 2 I could immediately tell it was warmer. Not exponentially but for surely warmer. The body is cut boxier than the aerolite so if you're not a very trim person it might be a plus. It does have drawstrings to pull it in at the bottom just like the aerolite. The face fabric appears to be similar if not the same. The insulation is different with the lykos claiming to be equivalent to 800 fill down. Based on warmth I'd say it's pretty close. Online it says its their "Titan" insulation which is a blend of down and synthetic. I did pull a single feather out of the bag when I opened it so I'm thinking they're correct.

As far as loft is concerned, the lykos has quite a bit more. The aerolite if I recall is designed to be closer to 650 down and is definitely less lofty.

The hoods are really similar

The lykos is slightly longer in the body and maybe just slightly shorter in the sleeves.

I got the lykos 2 from optic planet for 67$ shipped and honestly for that id say it is a steal. It will not replace my kryptek ares as my go to down puffy but its not bad at all and I think goes head to head with the aerolite favorably. Yes the aerolite is lighter. Yes it has a more high tech advanced insulation. But in real world use I would say they are almost identical so pick up either on a good deal.

The aerolite packs down more so if that matters to you- it might be the winner for that.

As far as wind and water resistant I would say they are about the same.

The only feature both are missing from other Puffys I havw would be fleece lined pockets.

Hope this helps someone if they're looking for a synthetic or semi synthetic puffy.

For reference I'm 6'2, 215. 78 inch wing span. 34 tall pants. Sizing is tough when you can't try stuff on. I think anybody not as long armed as me wouldn't have any issues with sleeve length and the sleeves arent short, just not as long as the ambient
