Looking on opinions on the Sitka Jetstream Jacket…….previous version vs the newer version from a year or so ago. Which version do you guys with experience prefer. Thanks in advance.

New version is softer and more comfortable but I feel the old one was better wind blicker

I have the original version. It is very tight fitting but also very comfortable. It does block the wind really well but I feel like that’s about where the benefits end. I don’t feel like it keeps me that warm when I am cold but it also makes me sweat terribly when hiking. It’s a really nice jacket and I want to like it but just don’t use it much anymore. I much prefer a good wind blocking lightweight puffy.

I have the old version. It sounds like I am the outlier, but I feel like the wind cuts right through it. It also isn't warm at all. I am curious how the new one fares. It seems softer and more comfortable. The fit seems a little different also. Mine is kind of short in the torso. Not terrible but just a little.

Curious if anybody else had a chance to compare the old vs new version of this jacket? I have the old version and thinking about possibly trying out the updated version. I’ve been pretty happy with the old version blocking out the wind for the most part.

I have both and the differences are hard to detect. I do think the Jetstream jacket is the best early/mid hunting jacket on the market. It does an excellent job blocking the wind and fits better (tighter), than the Stratus and is equally as warm. I throw a merino base, Fanatic hoody and light puffy jacket underneath and sit out at 40 with no problems. I can push it to 35, if needed, for 2-3 hour sits. It also has a bit more flex than the stratus; it is a great option for saddle hunting.

I’ve had both - have the newer version now - feel like it cuts the wind just as well - the newer version fits me better - the older was really short on long torsos…not sure you can go wrong either way - the older is maybe more durable, the newer has a better fit IMHO….

I have vastly different uses than most of you folks being in S. Fla. I have the new one and wear it every trip out in the boat this time of year. Open center console with temps between 45-60. Great wind resistance. Absolutely love it. Store all my stuff. Fits great and is quiet/soft.
Wore it turkey hunting in Michigan last spring. High temp 50. Froze my arse off lol. Definitely need to layer a bunch if sitting in 40ish degree temps.

I do believe Sitka removed one of the front chest pockets for the new version. Seems like the general consensus is the newer version fits better. As long as newer version cuts outs the wind like previous model I’ll have to pick up one.

Yes one outer left front chest pocket only on the new one. But there is an inner chest pocket only on the right side. Great fit imo.

Wind blocking and noise is comparable in both. The old version has a more athletic cut in the torso and sleeves, and the torso length is a tough shorter. The new version has a looser fit in the torso and arms which makes layering underneath much more comfortable. With the old version, my mid layers would get bunched up in the sleeves and cuffs, and the snug torso would compress insulation. Torso length seemed slightly longer in the new version. Also the hood is a little better designed in the new version.

I have a first year one, not sure how old it is at this point 12 years or more? The only things I wish it had were a hood and pit zips. Still in great shape and I haven’t really looked at the newer ones
