Sitka Jetstream as Everyday Jacket?

There are a couple of sites that have some great deals on the older model Sitka Jetstream in solid colors and I’m considering one for everyday, go to work, watch my kids’ soccer games, go hiking in, etc kind of jacket. For those of you that have experience with the Jetstream, would this cover what I’m looking for?
For reference I’m in TN and we have somewhat mild winters with only a few days that drop down to some really cold temps. Any input would be appreciated

Probably go with a solid color instead of a Camo so it can match with more clothing options

Tree hunters are not actually "in the pursuit of game" like spot & stalk hunting...they are waiting to ambush something that might pass by while playing video games and watching youporn on their phone. JMO, I could be wrong. There is nothing in the dictionary definition of hunting that suggest it involves sitting on your ass trying to stay awake.

Not sure why anyone would feel the need to put down other hunters because they like to, or need to, hunt a different way. This seems like a pretty significant assumption on your part with the effect of classifying a lot of people as "not real hunters".

There is also nothing in the dictionary definition of hunting that suggest that only spot and stalk hunting is real hunting. Humans have been ambush hunting for over a million years, and plenty of predators from crocodiles, to spiders, to leopards and beyond engage in ambush hunting as opposed to pursuit hunting. Its just a different way to hunt, it doesn't have to be more or less hunting. Is the leopard less of a hunter than the wolf because they subdue prey using different skills and tactics? You may dismiss it, but there is a lot of strategy, scouting, and skill that goes into ambush hunting, especially if you use a traditional bow.

I could just as easily summarize spot and stalk hunters by the ones who drive around in a truck and spot an animal in the distance then stalk 50 yards closer and shoot it from 300 yards with a high-powered rifle. But that would be lazy, and inaccurate. Why not appreciate other types of hunters instead of trying to make some kind of silly hunter hierarchy?

Not bashing...just pointing out the fact it is not the pursuit of game, it is a stationary (and boring IMO) form of hunting that I personally dislike. Doesn't make it an invalid method of take...it's just not a "pursuit" because you are stationary. I am taking the term literally. Pursuit requires you move your arse. It's a western thing.

It's all good. We all have our personal preferences and we are all a product of our terrain. A lot easier to spot and stalk in some areas than others.

I like both, but I don't have as much opportunity for western hunting.

And you could still look at it as pursuit Identifying a target deer and pursuing them by placing yourself in a location you know they are likely to be. You're still pursuing the deer, you're just beating them to the spot

It can be boring, but in my opinion a day sitting in the woods watching the leaves fall and the animals do their thing is a beautiful thing.

Just my $0.02, but I think the “your hunting isn’t REAL hunting“ is one of the dumber things I tend to hear on these forums and I am scratching my head as to how it showed up in a thread about jackets.

Oh stop creating fiction. Read post 18 and subsequent responses to understand how it came up and no...NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT TREESTANDS NOT BEING REAL HUNTING. It was referred to as boring and stationary which is accurate Desk Jockey.

Solid choice, you won't regret it. I have the original Jetstream and it is a great everyday jacket. My only complaint is it's not that packable for backpack hunting. My wife has the new model Jetstream and it is much thinner and lighter.

I can't say that the Jetstream isnt a good everyday jacket because I do not have one myself, but I personally think that it can't get much better than the Ambient for everyday wear. Warm, comfy, light, breathable, kinda water resistant, durable. Love mine

I love my Jetstream. It’s windproof, does well in light rain/snow, and usually enough to keep me warm with maybe just a layer underneath.

I've worn an original 90% for everyday since it came out. Started wearing the jetstream when colder and the mountain jacket when it's fairly mild out.
