I'm looking to drop some coin on some Sitka for elk next year. How would you dress in Sitka for early season elk ? Hunting in September in Wyoming or Idaho next year.

I ran a pair of 90% pants, merino long sleeve shirt, traverse zip t, and Kelvin jacket for CO end of Sept elk hunt. Also had merino bottoms, Kelvin pants, and a marmot precip rain jacket. Wore the 90%, merino, and traverse most of the time and used the Kelvin for late evening or early morning sits. Temps ranged from 30 to 60 everyday. Next year I'll run the same set up except change my pants to the Timberline pant. The waterproof seat and padded knees would've been really helpful.

The last couple of seasons I have ran the following for early season September in Colorado:

Lightweight merino top and bottom (rarely use the bottoms except to sleep in)
Ascent Pants
Traverse Zip for the colder mornings or sits
90% Jacket for really long sits, or wearing at night, etc
Set of lightweight rain gear (not Sitka)

I just picked up a Kelvin jacket that I will use to replace the 90% on backpack hunts, but that will be mostly for wearing at camp and sleeping in since I did get a little cold this year with just a 20 degree quilt. But using the quilt with the Kelvin should work great and also serves a dual purpose.

Here's what I'd run:
Here's a good start:

Mountain Pants
Pyrolene Base Layer
Traverse 1/4 Zip
Dew Point Rain Gear
Kelvin Ultra (puffy in the pack)

Double Creek...Curious...Why not Sitka Rain Gear? I've run KUIU, First Lite, Kryptek and Sitka. They all work, but Sitka Dew Point is my favorite.

I wear Timberline pants, a merino zip tee for most of the day carrying a Jetstream jacket and Dewpoint rain gear in my pack for the unexpected.

Hey Kotaman, I was simply saying the rain gear I have is not Sitka. I wish it was ;)
