I love a good Beanie when it gets cold out. I have been using an old Raven but its getting raggy. Any likes or dislikes on the Sitka Fanatic. Is it warm and fit well.

I just got one but haven't had it out in the field yet. I have a large noggin and size L/XL fits good. I plan to use it when temps drop below 40 degrees. I'm sure it will suit me well. I think I'll pair it with a neck gaiter.

I’m not really a fan of the Sitka beanies. They don’t ride low enough to cover the ears and in very cold weather it’s your ears that you have to protect. I think Kuiu has a much better design for beanies

I really like my Fanatic beanie, but don't wear it often. We have the blaze orange (rifle season) requirement for most of cold weather months. It does a great job. Very warm. Stops wind well. If any activity this thing can get too warm. I would recommend it.

For colder weather when the blaze orange requirement is in effect, I will wear the Sitka Ballistic. Not as warm, but I normally wear a UA Coldgear Infrared balaclava under the beanie. That balaclava offers protection on the neck without bulk. This worked well this past "fall" on 1st rifle season elk hunt when we had couple mornings below 15F. Only issue I have with the Ballistic is that is one size fits all and can be snug on the larger head.

Next year I am considering trying the Kuiu Kenai Bomber cap. Might look like Elmer Fudd, but it comes in blaze orange.

The new one is awesome. You can hear really well with it on and it’s crazy warm and soft/comfortable. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
