Can anyone recommend a readily available call the will work for Sitka blacktail. I understand they can be quite receptive to a fawn in distress call. Anyone have any advice or tips they would care to pass on?

I have had good luck with simple predator calls for Sitka blacktails. A fawn distress absolutely works, especially during the early season when does are still very protective.

A couple things that have worked for me:

• Primos “Lil’ Dog” or similar closed-reed predator call – easy to run and gets a good fawn distress sound.
• Fawn bleat calls like the Primos “Still Fawn” can also work if you want something more subtle.
• Start with short 10–15 second bursts, then sit quiet for a minute or two. They often come in slow and curious.

Check out "Aktis Blacktail Deer Call"

I hear great things for either sitka or columbian. But I think the guy who makes em lives in sitka country and mainly hunts them. I am going to buy one forsure just haven't gotten around to it yet. Now that you remind me, doing some online purchasing later today i'll probably add that to the list.

Nvm did not see the above comment before I typed.
