Wondering difference between core heavyweight bottoms and merino heavyweight bottom? Which ones better?

This is one of those decisions that just a matter of preference. Some prefer Merino next to skin, others synthetic. Both have their benefits and their place. For me it would depend on the weather where I was hunting. The Merino will be a bit heavier for it's warmth, will absorb more moisture(or hold it longer, making it heavier) and won't dry as fast. The perks are that it won't stink, even after a week. With that said, unless I was looking at lots of snow/moisture, I'd lean Merino for bottoms. Although for tops I'll often throw a really light synthetic tee under my merino base layer top. The synthetic is better at pulling the moisture off of your skin, and I've found this helps with staying warm when sweating with a pack and layers on.

This...and in warm weather I prefer synthetics as they dry quicker. In cooler weather I prefer merino.
