Any recommendations for a simple and rugged watch that’s easy to read for my aging eyes?
I currently have an Instinct Solar, and while I like it, it’s getting kinda hard to read without my glasses on, and honestly I really don’t use much if any of the functionality on it. And I’ve found notifications on my wrist are sometimes more annoying than what they are worth.

Simple, rugged, easy to read, and illuminated would be cool.

I like the G Shock… but are there any with larger displays or hands? The digital ones I’ve seen seem to have small displays like my Instinct

Casio GShock GD-350 is one of my favorites. It's got better digital screen. It was my watch for the most part on the booboo bus.

4th vote for a G Shock. I’m young and ditched a smart watch 5 years ago happily. Lots of versions that are great. I wear a DW5600 while hunting.

Timex Expedition Shock with Indiglo. The Indiglo is the best back light, helps to see rime at night. They make one with a vibration alarm, set it for 30minutes before sunrise for waterfowl hunting.

Currently use a Citizen Eco Drive Titanium, just a watch with luminescent hands, tough, accurate, lightweight, and no battery to worry about. Date sucks and wish it hand more numbers.

I have some sort of an issue with quartz watches and they never work long on my wrist. For everyday I use a Meistersinger M2 but the hands are not luminous. As a hunting watch I have a Seiko 5. Not a bunch of things I don't need and the luminosity is good.

Just checked and the Meistersinger is not a M2 but rather a No. 2. The Seiko is in the safe, have to get it out later.

Do you want digital, solar, quartz, automatic? Price?

The Gshock 5600's are easy and small, they're solar and keep atomic time, can set alarms. And only $100

Seiko has some solar divers that are thin, have great lume, keep great time mine is +5sec for 2 months. $3-500

There are a pile of inexpensive quartz and auto field watches timex, seiko s5 line, bertucci. And more expensive stuff like hamilton khaki line
sub $100- 1K

depends on what you want out a watch.

I have a timex expedition that's probably 15 years old now. I think it's only on its 2nd battery. Looks like hell but still keeps perfect time. The indigo thing is awesome.

Objectively, its a better watch than any of my automatics are.

I like to build my own. Can cost anywhere from 50-300 for an automatic movement watch build. Lots of youtube vids out there and it takes minimal tools!

I buy the cheap $10 Walmart specials. Black face with white numbers and fabric band. Never feel bad when they get damaged working or hunting cause I'm not out much. Usually last about 3 years if I don't bust them up

Price range?
You can never go wrong with a Timex or Casio from the wal mart jewelry counter for hunting
I bought one of these last year and really like it
