Huh? Why?
This was mentioned in a recent S2H podcast. Called it “uncorking pressure” of bullets as they exit the barrel. They didn’t get too much into the technicalities, but basically had to do with powder volume, pressure, and caliber. It is not directly related to cartridge chamber pressure.

Kind of conflicts with the tbac ratings which align more with the idea that same pressure in a bigger bore = more energy exerted on the can.

Anyone have an asr mount an muzzle device?

Hoping that takes some of the heat. Sucks that i own one of these and am scared to shoot it on anything except a bolt action non magnum cartridge.
I wasn’t but Im not sure it would have changed much unless someone on here could have a more scientific reason.

From what I understand running an asr would help reduce some of the wear on the first blast chamber, but I don’t think it would reduce overall pressure. Mine and looks like a good amount of other scythe failures have been in the 3rd baffle. Not any kind of expert but that is my thinking on it.

Really glad I found this thread. I did quite a bit of reading on these before I saw any mention of failures. I was just about to order a Scythe ti to swap between a 300 rum and wife’s 300wsm too…yikes. Guess it’s back to searching for a lightweight 30 cal can.

I replaced my Scythe with a Reaper.

I have a banish backcountry approved and about to arrive but figured I’d grab another option while the getting is good in case the backcountry wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I have a banish 30 that I’m happy with and haven’t had an issue with silencer central personally. The reaper looks interesting and looking at the DA nomad 30 ti xc also

I have scythe and nomad ti xc. The nomad is awesome.

Also take a look at unknown suppressor and airlock industries.

Check out Mack Brother’s Zenith line of suppressors.
