SilencerCo Scythe Ti failures

Scythe Ti owners: Have you had a Scythe Ti catastrophic failure?

Had a failure with the Scythe Ti this afternoon. Took my son out to let him shoot the 7PRC and the first shot related in the failed. He was scoped pretty good and we had to glue him up. If I could get a refund or have the $$ put towards another suppressor type I would but it sounds like that won’t be an option.

1. Customer 7 PRC 120 rounds down the barrel.

2. Barrel length: 22”

3. 180 grain Hornady ELDM hand loads

4. Loaded 2 grains under max load recs

5. Details of failure: Split at 3rd weld from rear of silencer
Tell them your kid got hurt and they need to make it right.

Yikes, I’m sorry to see your son got scoped, that looks painful. I grew up shooting a 270 and had a similar experience when I was 14. Made me recoil shy for life and I’m still working through it.

That said, glad he’s okay and his eye didn’t get injured!

I hate lawsuits, but frankly this is the “closest” I’ve been to wanting to be a part of one. The platform here would help that process. You have a semi-legit reason now….get it rolling, we will all jump on!

I sadly wish I was kidding.
I had no clue this failure was even an issue until I started doing some research last night and came across Rokslide and a few other sites. I can’t wait to call them tomorrow.

I’ve used mine since march, and I’ve used it on 6 and 22 Creedmoor, 22GT, and tried it on subsonic bolt action 300 blackout. It’s not my primary or secondary can bc I mostly night hunt coyotes and want the quietest can for that (AB raptor 10 in .22 bore with a 5” reflex or diligent defense LTi both of which I use on my primary 2 rifles in 20” barrel 22 Creedmoor for hunting).

I have 0 doubt, that will be a permanent scar. It likely won't be big, but you will be able to see it. I know they are in litigation for other supressor malfunctions. If you have some $ and want them to squirm, I'd have a lawyer write them a letter..

Same weld failure as mine.

Add mine to the ever growing list . I have around 1000 ish rounds down mine with majority of those being 22 and 6 creed with 22 and 24 barrels . Recently started shooting a 20” 6.5/7 prc and I’m at 250 ish rounds with it. I’ve always shot 3-5 shot strings and would take the can and cool down with a Milwaukee battery fan. Can blew on the 6.5/7 on the 4th firing today. I emailed and been trying to call CS for almost 2 hours with no luck so far. IMG_1842.jpg

Seems we're pretty solidly into more than 1 Scythe failure per week now on this thread..

A while back there was a list of cartridges associated with failures. Anyone have that up to date? Still seems to be overwhelmingly magnums but there was a 308 not too far back.

For those dealing with Silencer CO, are they fixing the failed suppressors or sending a whole new one with the original serial #?

Also, has anyone gotten reimbursed for their can cover that was blown to shreds?

A new can would require a new stamp. They are fixing.

I have heard of them sending a new cover, but don’t know details as that didn’t apply to me.

Pretty sure mine was a new can with same serial number. They used my end caps and dt adaptor the the rest of the can had zero evidence of carbon. They did send me one of their suppressor covers with the fixed can.
