SilencerCo Scythe Ti failures

Got mine back today. I missed the delivery yesterday so it was a total of 9 days from when I sent it to when it returned.

First, they gave me a new cover even though the one that blew apart when it let go was an Armageddon Gear cover. I was thankful for that even though they obviously have an issue on their hands.

Looks like they changed some things. When I first got it out I noticed how rough it felt compared to my first one. It has a rough texture on the new parts. Almost like its lightly blasted. The only original items are both end caps and the serialized section. They're obviously different finishes. The welds are super clean on the inside though.

I found a picture from the day the original can made it to me, the pic with the capital armory oven mit. The finishes are different and the welds look completely different. The most obvious is how raised and shiny they were. Looks like they changed that too.

Im not a welder but it's obvious they've made a few small tweaks to the can. I'm gonna shoot the piss out of this one and hope it blows up again. Regardless, it won't be coming on any important hunts with me. I have zero confidence and if it failed on a hunt and threw a shot, I would have no one to blame but me.... and SiCo.

What does it weight now?

Anything man made can fail, so that's not the biggest issue with me. I find it rather "bush league" that SiCo has taken the non-chalant, no big deal attitude about all of these failures. I'm glad I went the AB8 route personally.

Man I am glad I read this thread and took a 180. I was literally ordering it and tbac came into stock. Happy I picked up an ultra 7
Where did you find one? I looked for a long time and could not find one in stock so I just went with a Scythe. I'm still very happy with it and have no complaints but still think about a magnus or ultra.

I'm finding myself looking at the end of the gun during reset and prep phase to make sure the can is still intact.

I'm going to switch back to the Raptor...

Battle hawk armory. I had never heard of them and then someone on here posted here that tbac were in stock. They were awesome and shipped it super fast to my local shop

My Raptor is the one i have the most confidence in for sure. But I have a 10 stack because it was my first can and I thought I should prioritize sound over everything. While it's not too bad, I see yet another can in my life in the future.

The fact of the matter is that we practice a ton more than we hunt so hopefully if it's going to fail again, it will be at the range. I'll never not take a backup with me now though.

Great question, I dodnt think of that.

On my shitty kitchen scale, it comes to 8.4oz. I didn't measure when I originally received the can but it sure seems they might have beefed it up a bit.

There is some carbon on the back cap but highly doubt an ounce worth.
