Scythe Ti owners: Have you had a Scythe Ti catastrophic failure?

They turned around the first failure really fast, 1 week and it over July

They told me "they don't recommend using hand loaded ammo with any of their suppressors." I told them there was no engineering logic to that, my hand loads are conservative and very consistent compared to plenty of factory ammo.
who the hell docent shoot hand loads??? I can't even remember the last time I fired factory ammo.

I can't imagine that I'm the only one on here who just doesn't have the time. I'd love to....just not an option right now. Someday.
I mostly meant it as a joke but I really can’t remember the last time I shot factory ammo. I have a bunch of it, I just don’t use it.

I did consider that. But hey man, I’m jealous. That’s my life goal.

I will have the new Sycthe STM next week. Plan to run it on a 26" 300 Norma mag improved. Maybe I won't after seeing this. Keep it for my 6.5 prc and lower

I am thinking that I may just take the hit on weight and some sound suppression and go for a TBAC Magnus K RR with CB mount. Also considering DD Enticer Ti or AB Raptor 6 or 8.

If you’ve experienced catastrophic failure of the Scythe Ti, please post the following:

1. Cartridge or cartridges used with approximate round count

2. Barrel length

3. Factory ammo, hand loads or both

4. Details of ammunition

5. Details of failure (to include failure point and pics)
Voted yes
22 inch barrel on a 7 PRC
Factory 180 elm
Roughly 200 round on a 22-250 and 100ish on the 7 PRC.
It was the 2nd shot of the day when it blew up.

Has anyone really ever paid attention to the temp of their can when shooting at a reasonable pace (bolt gun)? My dad has an Ultra 7, I have a 338 Ultra - we just go and shoot. Neither of us sits and worries about the temp (the cans definitely get hot) and none have blown up.

Just makes me wonder what is going on with the Scythe-Ti… I bought mine since my Gunwerks 8ight (steel) is ~ 20 oz. I shoot a pretty high volume of 223 at prairie dogs, so may need to keep the 8ight on the 223 if it’s a temp issue.

I had a scythe on order and changed it to a Magnus S. Taking the weight and length penalty to avoid what is starting to seem like inevitable failure.

Just came across this thread by chance and made an account to add to this.

1. 25 Creed roughly 1500rds
2. 22"
3. 134gn ELD's at 41.75gn H4350
4. approx 2750-2775
5. Split at the connection to the second baffle. Replacement is coming up close to same rd count so will update if it happens again

For more context, this thing had a Can Chap cover on it since day one and was strictly used for PRS.
Roughly 8-12rds in 2 minute time frame with 30-45 to cool down and do it again for roughly 100rds in a day.
Picture is from a range session doing some load dev on a new barrel, no baffle strike and the bullet still piled up in the same little hole as the rest!
Replacement came in under a week free of charge, zero answered questions by SiCO though. 100% a new can and not a rebuild though

Excuse my ignorance, but how do you get a new can? Do they put your original serial number on it?

I have the raptor 6 with 3" non-bull reflex. It's a pretty great can. I highly recommend them.
