Purchased mine in December 2024.
Ran it on a 26” and 22” 300 RUM for about a hundred rounds total, then on a 20” 300 RUM for 5 rounds when it failed. Serial number 18xxx.
Catastrophic failure. No baffle strike.
Interestingly, bullet still impacted properly on target. Front half of can went passed the 100 yard target.
Impressive! I will not put my scythe on anything with a magnum case head, I really don't want to pick up the pieces!

I bought mine to use on a 20" 7 PRC and a 22" 300 PRC. Looks like I need to find something else for that job. I'll probably just stick it on my Tikka .223 trainer and leave it.

They rate it at 300 RUM with no barrel restrictions.
They need to beef it up a little.
With that being said, who makes one that won’t fail on a short barrel RUM?
Lots of them are guaranteed, but I don’t want to have to use the warranty.

Well, I was already talking to silencer co about another can and decided to ask about the failures with this can since I want to buy one for a hunting rifle.

Here is what I asked: "I've seen a handful of people posting pictures of the scythe TI breaking right at the second weld. Do you guys know if it was a bad batch or how you guys fixed the problem?"

Their response: No those are well under 1% of Scythes out there and it's typically due to misuse.

Take it for what you will but they don't think they have a problem and believe it's customer misuse.

Did you ask what kind of misuse? I would love to know.

Maybe I'll call them tomorrow and ask all hot about it saying I don't want to end up blowing mine up.

338 Ultra is my favorite can I own. You’ll love it.
I've got one I use on my 22 Creeds right now. It definitely does what I wanted it to on the Creeds which was max suppression. Pretty dang quiet. I just don't like swapping them back and forth depending which rifle I take out. So that's why I decided to grab another.

I’m going to be starting the process to get my first can this weekend and I was set on getting the scythe ti or possibly the tbac ultra 7 but after reading this thread I’m not sure. If you were only going to buy one would you let the small percentage of failures deter you away from the scythe?

There’s a reason they’ve long been the gold standard. 😜

I’d love to get my dirty little hands on a Magnus s RR. Maybe one day…
Fwiw Tbac charges you nothing till it ships. Put 100$ a month away and it will be paid by the time it ships.

I just got my RR after almost a year. Good news is form 4s are on a one or two week turn around.

Which length? Have you shot it?

K length. I got it as a game gun suppressor. Only shot it on my 3006 which I’ll be using at nrl in March. It’s going to do its purpose better than anything else I have. I havnt shot it in my dasher yet. It is louder, but recoils like a brake without the noise and concussion. Still not as effective as an efficient brake but I gave up on those.

I really want a full size Magnus RR to build a 15ish pound 300 Norma.
