I’m planning on buying my first silencer and I’m considering the Omega. I primarily want to use it on my .223 bolt gun and secondly my 300 RUM. I also want the ability to use it on an AR.

I don’t know anything about silencers so any advice would be appreciated.

That's only rated to 300 Win Mag I believe. I ended up buying a Rugged Micro30 as my first can. It's belt fed rated up to 300 RUM and its modular so you have options for weight vs. sound reduction. I should add that I'm still waiting to get my stamp back so no real feedback on it and since then Rugged has come out with the Radiant 7.62 which is also 300 RUM rated.

You guys are right, I’ll email them to confirm I can’t use it with the RUM.

It is pretty much an ideal can as far as your needs go. It is relatively lightweight at 14oz and can go direct thread for your bolt actions. Then you can move to quick detach in the offseason and use it on your AR's. The built in (but removable) brake is awesome for recoil reduction too. As long as they will rate it for the RUM you will probably really like it. Speaking as someone who owns 1 Omega and 2 Harvesters.

I have had an Omega for a while and haven't had any complaints. Had to send it in once because it got so dirty it was noticeably louder, they replaced the core at no cost.

I've run it from a 10.5" SBR to a 22" WM with no issues.

My guess is Silencerco probably isnt going to give you the ok for RUM based on a quick look at how much powder they take.
Some companies like TBAC would give you a yes or no if you gave them specifics for a caliber that was rated such as your load, barrel length, etc.
I asked a question like this about 300 Norma when I got mine but SilencerCo wouldn't do the same deal that TBAC would. No big deal, just a heads up on experience I've had.

Off the top of my head I cant think of any rates for RUM but I also havent shopped for one in a while. Might have to look at 338 cans for that.

SilencerCo quickly confirmed the Hybrid was good for 338 Lapua before I bought it. I’m not too familiar with 300 RUM specs so you should definitely check with them.
