This is where it gets grey, while doing my research and trying to learn the legalities before purchasing my first can, I was told directly by the ATF that technically only an IRS agent can legally ask to see your tax stamp document.
I'm sure its true the only person that can ask to see your stamp is the IRS. But the way the CO law is written based on a limited amount of reading it seems it is assumed you are breaking the law unless you can prove otherwise so its up to you to prove it, the tax stamp is your means of proving it. You can refuse to show your stamp in this state to an officer and because of the state law (not federal) it sounds like they can arrest you and take you to court because you haven't proven you aren't breaking the law. At which point you can again prove you are legally allowed to have it in the state (once again your tax stamp approval).

Frankly I find that to be BS but it sounds like that is the weasel wording in this state.
