My Sig Kilo 2000 Display is barely showing anything on its brightest setting. I call up Sig’s customer service and they tell me that it was manufactured on 11/16 and falls outside of their 5 year warranty on optics BY A MONTH. All they can offer me is a discount on a new one. This is a surprise to me thinking they have a no fault warranty now that matched Vortex. For those of you looking at buying a rangefinder or electronic scope from them, their lifetime warranty only applies to non-electric items. If it has electronics it’s only 5 years.

I do remember the split warranty (electronic / non-electronic) when i purchased my Kilo-2000 a few years back so I wouldn't call it misleading, it does seem however they should take care of you being that close to covered warranty.
The devil is always in the details

I called them and the guy assured me that it was 5 years from when that product line was stopped. Now I’m rethinking my purchase.

They give a specific warranty on electronic components?
Ah, you're new here. Doug stands behind what he sells and goes way beyond the expected to take care of his customers.

Warranties in the U.S. are from date of purchase, nor date produced. Perhaps you should dig up your receipt and call them back.

You think that’s bad…try a leupold. TWO YEARS!!!!! Yes, 2 measly years, which for the guy that goes on 1 weeks long hunt a year means an almost new electronic device. I refuse to sue ANY leupold product after they told me to kick rocks for a rangefinder that was basically new but more than 2 years old. I’ll spend my money elsewhere!

I can’t count how many under performing Sig range finders I’ve had. Every model but the 2400 ABS.

Like I dink I kept buying them. Lesson learned. I’ll steer anyone and everyone away from their range finders.

I wasn’t aware of that. The fact that I’m even having this conversations is ridiculous. Here is the email the follow up email they sent me that I needed to respond to to even get the discount:

“Per our phone conversation, Unfortunately the issue you describe, a fading display, is an electronic issue, and your range finder is outside of the 5 year limited warranty. The Electronic Components carry a limited 5-year Warranty. For components not included under the SIG SAUER Infinite Guarantee™, this warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship in the electronic and Tritium components of illuminated riflescopes/sights, pistol sights, electronic sights, flashlights, lasers, binoculars, spotting scopes, and rangefinders. This warranty lasts for five years from the date of manufacture. your serial #, #############, indicates that it was manufactured in 11/2016. What I can do is offer you a discount on a new unit at 20% off map pricing. Let me know what you would like to do.

Have a good day”

This was the reason I brought this up in a different thread, but Vortex is the only company that I have found that warranty's all of their products for life optical or electronic clearly from their support pages...

I understand others may be better or offer more features, but I am worried about electronics failing or even a battery leaking...

It should be the date of sale, and if you cannot produce a receipt then they would default to MFG date...I guess it would be worse if it sat on the shelf for 3yrs before you bought it and then could not produce the receipt...

20% off MAP I assume is just the regular store price...sad

Very good to know, just bought a tripod and head from him on a screamin deal. Will be my first check when I’m in the market for more optics

That was my experience with Leupold, too. 2 years is shameful. I really wish they could refurbish them. I’d pay for that so I don’t have to buy new stuff every couple of years.

I’m worried about my 2200BDX, but at least I have 4 more years of warranty covering me.

And it’s not 2 yearss and a day. It’s not 2 years but obviously this is a manufacturer defect. It’s 2 years and we hope it makes it that far so we can tell you to kick rocks.

This is why ill never be on the train of range finding binos... Also why Vortex is the only brand ill buy a rangefinder from. And yes i know there are better built rangefinders out there but if anyone thinks an electronic will last especially when used in potential harsh environments is crazy.

I’m a huge fan of their Razor 4000. I think it’s still, one of the best on the market.

Couldn’t agree more. I would go vortex too but I’m running RF binos

But their scope electronics are lifetime. Illumination etc.
