So, I was looking for a new scope to upgrade a fixed 4 power on one of my squirrel rifles. I'm a bit of glass snob when it comes to my Whitetail hunting rifle scopes however, for plinking and shooting squirrels I can't justify high end scopes.

I've done enough reading on this Forum to feel confident that the Sightron was a good scope for the money and should serve me well for my use. Ordered a S1 3-9x40 from one of our Vendors here and I've been pleasantly surprised with it. I waited until I had a handful of sits with it to see if there was anything I didn't like about it. This little scope is a steal for what I paid for it. (187.00 +tax) Here are my observations so far:
1) Appearance wise it's a good looing scope. The matte black finish is nice and clean giving it a very attractive look.
2) The quick focus and zoom rings are smooth and consistent. Fit/finish and machining seems very good.
3) It feels robust but only weights a tick over 13 oz. I haven't dropped it and have no plans to intentionally or otherwise.
4) I'm not much of a dialer but it does have 70 moa which seems very generous for a scope of this size. Also, the clicks are smart and plenty audible.
5) Eye relief is good and I've had no issues throughout the entire zoom range.
6) Lastly the duplex reticle is thick enough to see good in low light but not so thick it covers up your target. My eyes are old and have grown fond of very small, illuminated reticles (uncluttered). This scope will serve me fine without illumination.

In closing I think you would be hard pressed to find a scope for under 200 bucks that is any better. I've paid more for 3 boxes of ammo than I did for this scope. Kudos to Sightron for building a nice scope at an excellent price point.

Thanks for the review.
In a similar boat, but wanted to keep it compact to replace the now defunct 20mm Bushnell on my "gallery" gun. I just found a great deal on a 3-9x32mm SI-H from one of our vendors.
I hope I'll be as pleased with it as you are with your S1. (I have been very impressed with the S-Tac on my coyote gun.)

Good deal...I'm fortunate enough to have some very nice, high end glass on most of my rifles and I have zero complaints with mine. Please follow up and let me know your thoughts after some field use.
