Sig Zulu6 HDX Pro Opinions

I currently run Vortex razor UHD 12x50s as my main set of chest carry binos. I use them mostly in the west for mule deer, elk, antelope and then I do quite a bit of shed hunting with them as well. Been thinking of switching it up to the Sigg HDX pro 14x50s. A buddy of mine has a pair and I have looked through both and can definitely tell the difference in clarity with the Vortex UHD definitely being more clear, but the stability seems to be very nice as well. Just curious if anyone has made a similar switch and if they were happy they did or if they regretted it. I would love to keep the UHD‘s as secondary binos, but I don’t think I could justify it so it is either one or the other. I just don’t want to get rid of my UHDs just to find that the 14x50 stabilized binos are a worse all-around setup. I would appreciate any input!

Been having a similar debate although mine has range finding binos in the mix also. Decisions…

I would try to get my hands on a pair and test them out a bit before selling the razors if I were you. The stabilization is pretty amazing. Being able to pull them up, flip the switch, and have an extremely steady image is a huge upside. I haven't tried the pro's. I think I prefer the smaller footprint of the regular hdx's.

Yeah honestly this might be the best option. Yeah the stabilization sure seems nice, but all I’ve ever done is used it once or twice to compare.

Search this forum for this topic - lots of info. I got burned by trying the Pro models, and as far as I know nobody has tested as many Sig Zulu's side by side. My take: save $600 and go with the gen 2 HDX, not the pros. The better low light performance is marginal and still not very good compared to your primary binos. Clarity, weight, cost, stabilization, batteries - everything was worse than the cheaper gen 2's in my experience. Sig Sauer tech support told me that the larger glass on the Pros should be expected to have worse resolution than the gen 2's. Laughable.

If possible, I'd buy several pairs from a Cabela's or whatever and test them outdoors. Keep the best pair and return the rest. Quality control on the Pros was HORRIBLE and you might get a decent pair or absolute garbage. I bought two gen 2's and 3 pairs of the Pros. I've kept both gen 2's.

Used the 16 x 50 for 11 straight days in Az. I have 10 X 42 ELs as main glassing bino. Of course the clarity of the Swaro binos is superior but not stabilized. What the 16 power sig did was eliminate the need to pull out the spotting scopes. They are a great truck bino. If I purchased a pair I would not go below 16 power. The FOV. Is reduced so compare the 42 objective to 50

I've had both the original sig hdx and the new hdx pro model. Tested side by side. It was discussed a couple years ago in a thread I'll link below. Bottom line... I was nor impressed by the new pro line. The original design was better is all meaningful respects IMO.
