I am looking to possibly purchase an sig kilo canyon but sigs marketing confuses me they say nothing about the archery mode but in the user manual they mention it. Does anyone have confirmation on whether it does have the archery mode?

The confusion stems from the fact that SIG SAUER uses the "Canyon" name for two completely different setups, and they share a generic manual layout that often causes overlap:

1. The KILO Canyon 10x42mm Rangefinding Binoculars

  • Yes, they have a true Archery Mode.
  • If you are looking at the binocular version, it features a dedicated Archery Mode (ARCH) where you can input your specific arrow speed (in FPS). It uses a specialized algorithm combined with an inclinometer to calculate the exact flat-ground equivalent distance for steep downhill or uphill shots.

2. The KILO Canyon 6x22mm Handheld Rangefinder (Monocular)

  • No, it does not have a true Archery Mode.
  • If you are looking at the smaller, budget-friendly handheld monocular, it lacks the dedicated archery firmware and will not let you input arrow speed. Instead, it features AMR (Angle Modified Range) and LOS (Line of Sight) modes.
  • Note: While you can absolutely use the handheld version's AMR mode for standard bowhunting (it handles basic cosine angle compensation out to 400 yards), it doesn't calculate the unique aerodynamic drag curve of an arrow like the true Archery Mode on their higher-end units.
