First time posting here so I hope I'm doing this right. Looking to get a new hunting rifle (whitetail and hogs mainly) and the sig cross caught my eye awhile ago. When I made up my mind to get one I saw the sawtooth series. After a lot of research I'm still unsure which one I'd rather have, the OG cross or spend the extra $$ for the sawtooth. Main reason I'd want the sawtooth is the proof barrel. I've read where some owners of the OG cross have a hard time finding factory ammo it likes. Also read where others have no problems and say it's very accurate. Wondering what your personal experiences have been with either of them. Thanks

I have the cross in .308 and it shoots 168gr Barnes TTSX factory and hand loads sub moa. I’ve run a few other random .308 factory loads through it and haven’t noticed any bad fliers.

Fun little gun. Not as pleasant to carry for long periods of time as compared to a std bolt action setup, but that may not be a concern for all.

You'd probably gain a little more traction with this posted in the firearms section.

I went with the 18" Sawtooth version for my 6.5 CM. The handguard is a little shorter, has an integrated ARCA, and the Proof barrel shoots very well. It handles nicely and is easy to carry, especially when strapped to my pack. So far, I've shot AAC 140 Sabre and Gunwerks 147 ELDM and 127 LRX loads through it. Haven't handloaded for it yet since it shoots factory ammo so well.

It's accounted for 2 cow elk a couple of weeks ago. My friend was up first at 350 yards. Drilled his cow and the herd didn't spook much, so I took my rifle and crept over the next hill. 280 yards on the next one.

My dad liked mine so much that he wanted his own in a 22 Creed. I bought the 24" 6.5 CM, pulled the barrel and installed a Proof 22 CM prefit. That barrel shoots excellent as well.

Can't speak to the factory steel barrels, but if you go with the Sawtooth, the Proof should be a hammer.
