Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

Where would you place your bet for COAL?
Like what Sierra is most likely to publish?
They listed the 110 at 2.8750” COAL for the 6mm Creedmoor.
That’s a pretty safe bet for the 116.

Hodgedon, Berger, and Vhitavuori all listed 2.79 or 2.8 as their book max lengths for 115 VLDs.

Me personally, I would make a dummy cartridge of your chamber once you have the 116TMK in hand. Then seat 20-30/1000ths short of your measured length.

If your lands are still miles away, I’d just make sure the transition amgle from bearing surface to boat-tail lines up with the neck-shoulder junction.

Sorry, didn't want to go through the whole thread. Anyone have measurements on 107 bullet length and plastic tip length for running through a stability calc?

Similar to others, I found the new 107 TMK to shoot well with multiple loads/powders. Way better results compared to the 95TMK with the same powders. I still haven’t found a great load for the 95TMK yet…

I’m going to hold off on sharing charge weights as I had a few blown primers (which was a big surprise and a new issue for me). For the record, all of these powder charges were below book max if there was book data available. If there wasn’t book data, then I used slightly lower charges than others have reported with comparable bullets (107 SMK, 108 ELDM). I’ll be loading some more up with lower charges and then hope to work my way back up.

All 107’s were loaded to 2.860” in an M+ mag as I couldn’t chamber them at 2.880”. I do wonder if I should load shorter next time, as I’m thinking a lack of jump on a few rounds that ended up slightly longer than planned could have been the reason for the occasional blown primers that happened with multiple powders at safe charge weights.

What velocity were you getting with the 107s and 4350 ? Thinking of cutting my 20” Tikka 1:8 243 down too

I don’t have a chrono so I’ll need to true once I find a load that shoots well.
I think another post a few pages back mentioned line 2750 with a 16” barrel using 41g of H4350. I’m hoping to be around 2700 at least but we’ll see…

I recently shot 3 different loads of the 107tmks in 2 different 6cm.. A 16” and 20”.
Started out with 40.5 , 41 and 41.3 gr of h4350

All shot sub 1/2” 3 shot groups …. I know , I know I’m supposed to do 10 shot groups 🤣🤣.
2820ish in the 16” and 2980ish in the 20”

Do you know your neck interference? Wondering if a tighter neck would increase the chance of a ring. Probably not but just wondering... let us know how they shoot
