Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

With that said, they just aren’t quite stacking like the Berger’s, so I’m going to sell my remaining lot of 107’s and wait for the 116’s.
This has been my experience with sierras as well. Generally accurate enough just not quite as easy to find a good load as the bergers. Though I haven’t tried any of the new offerings

I did a little testing with the 107 in a 22" 6 Dasher today with Varget to get an idea of speed and if I'd hit pressure. Loaded COAL 2.450". Didn't have any signs of pressure, will likely load some hotter to further test

What brass are you using? I'm planning on using 107's with my 18" Dasher & Varget. Curious how much more you are able to get out of them velocity wise as well.

Threw the rifle back together today and ran out to do a quick test with the 107s. Velocity was not what I had hoped. No pressure and I'm sure I can stuff another .5 grain in there, but I think the 116s will be a better fit for this chamber.

I'm gonna load a few more, get a good zero ,and take them up to the canyon to try to stick a few sheep or pigs next week.

Right on, I’ve found pulling the seating stem and wrapping a bullet in a small piece 3m 400grit sand paper, or some valve lapping compound, to work well. I prefer sand paper as it’s easier and I still shoot the bullet. I’m sure lapping compound is more precise, but it take a couple sacrificial bullets.

My Redding comp dies are doing the same and checking the coal they are different because some squish more and some don’t. I’m going to try this trick and see if it fixes it.

Lookin for some load data for a 243 win using the 107 tmk. Any idea why book max would be more for a 108 than 107 on the hogdon site? 37.5 for the 107 vs 41.1 for the 108. Bearing surface?

I’d imagine the smk has more bearing surface than the Eldm. I shot the 107 tmk today with a charge that shoots well with the 108 Eldm out of a tikka 243. It was about 50 fps slower and grouped around 2 moa vs the 1 moa I was getting with the 108s. I’m going to try to increase the charge and see what happens.

That’s going to entirely be the issue with the 107 in a saami creed chamber. It’s either going to shoot with a lot of jump or not, there is no ability to tune length.

Again this may not matter at all, especially with this bullet, but we will see. The 116 looks like it has a lot more bearing surface.

This is all really getting nit picky, we have been jamming bullets way down the case with 6.5cm for a very long time and they seem to shoot awesome.

In my belief a barrel either likes the bullet or it dosnt, I don’t think your going to tune a terrible load to a good one. Hence why I threw one random charge with one seating depth and shot it.
Sounds like they’d be great in a 6gt…. Lot more mag room to play with.
