Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

@Formidilosus any thoughts on 4831sc for these using a 243?
I'm on my second 8# jug of H4831sc in 243's & 243 AI w/CCI 250's and 105 grain bullets. It gives me 80-100 fps more than H4350 and shoots better than any powder I have tried in those guns. (it's my favorite in 280AI & 416 Rigby too).
6.5 Staball will get nearly another 100 fps over 4831, but my groups were about double the size.

Yes…but as I understood it he’s talking about a given time of year at a given low elevation with shorter distances. In every other instance, stability would increase. So if the guy wants to see if they’ll work for down in the mangroves, that can be seen easily.

It isn’t as though he’s shooting at 5000 DA all year long then taking trips to Florida and worried about it. That would be different. If that’s the case, then my apologies.
Weather and temperature.

Not even a cold day

Personally, I'm too lazy to have winter and summer loads.

Well it started good till my suppressor got loose and there was so much mirage I couldn’t make out my aim point. Only had a few minutes to get on paper and rip ten off.

Not pretty but I got a rough zero, enough to hopefully shoot a deer at a few hundred yards.

2720 in a crappy 15 degrees from my 21 inch dasher.

I got some 107s today.

I jumped in with the max load for the 107 BTHP and H4350:

107gr TMK
2.800"
40.5gr H4350

My Hornady "custom grade" die smushes the bullet a little.

I'd bump it down to 40gr... some flatness and a stiffy at sea level.

I'm zeroed for factory loaded Nosler 115gr RDF. 16" 1:7.5 barrel.

They must be pretty soft bullets, I noticed a little ring on mine with fairly light neck tension. Long nose on these guys.

Going to load up 50 at the same charge and give them a go. Need to get a cover for my suppressor before doing any more group work.

They show p/n 397113 for 105-108gr and 397139 for 109/110gr. Probably worth calling Hornady and asking which (or perhaps something else entirely) ships with the die.

Uncovered you can pour cold water over it, I’m not patient enough to allow cooling time trying to get 20-30 round groups.
