Sierra 153 TMK Load Data

I had full intentions to test all the new TMK’s and was honestly pretty excited to do so. But after seeing the bullet quality and how the 107’s & 116’s shot vs. Berger’s, I scrapped the whole idea. Wasted enough time and money on the 6mm stuff.
I have around 450 of them left over 😆

Thought I’d start a thread for the 153’s now that all the new TMK’s are starting to show up.

I’m going to load up 10 at 58gr and see how they shoot. The 3 PRC’s I’ve loaded for in the past were 57-58gr’s of N565 with the Berger 156’s.

This is 5 @ 58gr of N565 with the Berger 156’s I had loaded for another rifle. They averaged 2776 with an ES of 19.1 and an SD of 6.8.

How are you getting up to 57 58 gr of powder?

I set my scale to 57gr and when it hits 57gr I pull it and dump it in the case.

All jokes aside a quick google search for 150-156gr bullets will show you up to 58/59gr of n565. I loaded for 3 diff 6.5PRC’s and 156gr Berger’s and all of the were 57-58grs of 565.

Sorry to ignorant. But I can’t any published book that has 153gr and N565 up that high. You got a link?

Update:

First 5 @ 58gr of N565

Immediately reloaded and shot 5 more

All 10 rounds averaged 2807fps with an extreme spread of 25.7 and a SD of 7.3

The mirage off the ZG6.5 after about 5-6 shots is pretty rough. Next time I’ll shoot 5 and then wait a good 5-10 min before shooting again. @Formidilosus or anyone else have any tricks for being more consistent once the mirage starts to get bad or is it just purely a waiting game?
Letter barrel cool to ambient temperature. First five look great.
58g of 565 is looking slow to me.
Mine is 156 berger, 58g 565, 2940fps.
Maybe the 153 has so much barrel contact its slow?

Not everyone follows a book man. The 153 was just released, you're not gonna find data anywhere "in a book"

Bearing surface on the 153 is quite a bit longer than the 156, so yeah she's probably dragging down the mv.

Like said above I don’t think any books have the 153 listed. My comment about google was just to say there’s 1000’s of guys running 150+ grain bullets at 57 or higher. Every gun is diff so work up and find what your gun likes.

Guess my gun, and the few others I loaded for, should’ve blown up. Multiple guys in this thread have said they went to 57 and higher. Good luck.
