Shrek's Trek 2014

Anyone heard from Shrek. Is he making it ok or is he stranded. Somewhere on the interstate?

I'm fine in Sturgis. When the temp falls below about 5º the truck runs terrible. As it got dark and temps dropped I pulled into a hotel as the truck just doesn't want to go. It was almost completely right about 3pm today when it got up to maybe 15º. I'm going to Denver tomorrow to check out possible places to move to. Going to meet a possible broker and make sure we are on the same page and compatible. The cold has me second guessing leaving Florida but the I spend 3 months out of the year there locked inside to avoid the heat so it might be an even tradeoff.

Dude......you're lost. Billings to Denver through Sturgis isn't exactly a direct route. Glad you're making it alright. Trade that Ranger off while you are in Denver.

Yea , I was riding down the road when a fellow driver from back home called. We talked shop as it reminded me that I need to get out of the situation I'm in. When just thinking of the BS makes your chest get tight you need to move on. Life is too short to get that stressed out. I was already past the roads I needed and didn't want to go down a small secondary road with the truck acting up. I'll cut back to Denver in the morning when the temps are rising and the truck will run.

Staying on the main roads is a good plan. Well good luck in Denver. If I could deal with that many people it would be my first choice of big ciities to live in or around that I've visited/driven through.

Sounds like you have moisture in your fuel system, get some Sea Foam or other moisture eliminating treatment, pour it into your gas tank and it should clear it up within a half a tank or so. Moisture in the gas and really cold temps are a bad combo.

Thanks , I'm going to pour some Seafoam in it. I have stopped in Cheyenne to check it out. Looks like plenty of work around and no state income tax is attractive. More affordable housing also. Going to have to check out the owner operator possibilities.

You can hunt elk every year OTC just over an hour away from Cheyenne. Food for thought!
And the Snowy's are not near as steep as NW Montana.

Trip home was from hell ! Spent all day Saturday in a hotel room due to snow outside Denver. Truck ran like chit and stalled if I let off the gas . Had a guy come around from my left and turn in front of me and hit me. He ran and I couldn't get the tag. Truck would not back up after that and the light cluster is broke along with a good dent. Waited two and a half hours for a cop to make a report. Lost my brkes as I crossed into Georgia from Alabama. Drove the rest of the way with only the emergency brake. If it hasn't been the middle of the night I would have been fixing my brakes by the side of the road. As it was it got a little nerve wracking the last half hour as I came into town. Due to the brake issues I couldn't pick up my house key as planned so I'm sitting in my driveway waiting on her to bring me my key and typing this whining post . Hahaha ! 25 hrs straight and I can't get into my own house to go to bed :(.

...wow! Home at last. You just might get famous, but you gotta keep that truck. Every adventure needs a variable and I would say that truck certainly brings the alphabet.

Glad to hear you at least got to your driveway:)
