Show your Tikka ten round groups

Following up on last posts with terrible groups from .223 T3X Lite... free floated the barrel much better, tightened action screws to 60ftlbs. Shooting indoors, no more mirage issues. Results are similar to last time but ELDM still outshoots all flavors of the cheap AAC stuff, except the 69gr SMK. Only thing I haven't tried is the Hornady Black 75gr, just picked some up today. Special thanks @Q_Sertorius , your advice on types of targets and adjusting a couple minutes down to preserve the aiming point made quite a difference.

It's pretty clear the limiting factor at this point is the scope, it's one step above garbage, so until I swap to a Credo this may be as good as it gets. Im not mad about 1.3" groups with the ELDM so that'll be the go-to for now for hunting purposes. Even though the SMK shot a hair better I have more faith in the ELDm on game.

My lifehack for getting good groups WHILE confirming zero is to take the time to level the target with a bubble level. Then, when I'm shooting I make sure to level my rifle and use the outer stadia to line up with the lines on the target/diamond points/whatever. This way I'm actually locking the outside of the reticle scope at 4 points rather than aiming at one that is getting destroyed...

6.5 CM
Peterson LRP 1x fired brass
Fed 210 primer
42g H4350
2.850 COAL
I called the two low shots but included them because sometimes shit happens...

1" diamonds. Bottom right is only 3 with a different load to confirm zero before I did some positional work. Target was "waterproofed" with packing tape since it was a bit wet today.

This barrel does not like Nosler 140gr Partitions (top row)...third trip to the range to find something worth shooting. Just gonna give up on 'em.

Those ELD-X with big game were loaded down for planned 0-100yd whitetail woods. 2460fps MV stays above 1,800fps to about 420 yards. ES of 64, SD of 20. People keep telling me that's going to matter down range at some point...

.223 with Black Hills 77TMKs. 400 yards. 2700 FPS muzzle velocity estimate pretty much right on for my 18" barrel. 2.4 mils dialed.

5. 57" group, although I'm pretty sure those two bottom right were me.

6.5 PRC at 400 yards. Needed to come up about 6 inches (0.4mils). Dialed 1.9 mils. Had to reduce the MV to 2600, which seems really slow. 2910 per the box on a 24" barrel. I had guessed 2750 for my 18" barrel.

Dialed 2.3mils after this group and was right on elevation wise, although I was eager to get off the range before anyone else showed up and had some horizontal stringing which I'm going to attribute to barrel mirage.

That isn’t right. What is the scope?

Maven RS 1. 2. I checked zero again at 100 afterwards and it's still on there.

What would you do next to evaluate?

It would take a massive tailwind or downwind to cause that. It could be a slow lot# of Hornady ammo, but man that’s low. Recheck your inputs in your ballistic calculator. If those are spot on, you need a chronograph.

Early morning; no wind to speak of. 223 feet of altitude entered is correct. Shot the first group with one box of ammo and the second with a different box (although I just checked the boxes and they are the same lot #3223785. I guess I need a chronograph. Which one do people like?

I do have another box from a different lot. Maybe I should try that one and see what happens. Back to the range...

The Garmin Xero C1 Pro is great. Easy to setup and the battery seems to last about eight hours. If I forget to recharge it after one 3-4 hour session, I can make it through a second session the following week.

It’s quite possible that it’s the ammo. This was from an 18 in tikka 6.5 prc. Shooting factory precision hunter. It shot great but made me wonder why I didn’t have a 6.5 cm.

Interesting! I suppose since I'm out of that lot of ammo anyway, I need to go back and try my other lot. Going to need to buy a couple cases so I don't have to play this game.

That’s the way to do it. I had multiple lots of ammo that had noticeably more recoil than that one, but others that were similar. I didn’t have a chronograph at the time so I couldn’t get an exact number.

Oofda. I’ve seen slow lots, but not that bad.

Hard to get a case in SEAK, but I'll have some fly up with family eventually. Til then, maybe I can match the lot number on what I already have.
