Same rifle and load 100 rounds later, same range trip, w/ no adjustments to scope.

Wanted to see the affect on POI and group sizes as the rifle fouls up w/ statistically relevant group sizes. It took about 40-50 rounds for POI to migrate, but about 80-100 rounds for accuracy to tighten up further.

Here’s a group of shots 61-80. Notice POI has moved from shots 1-20, but the group is a little larger than typical from this barrel/load combo

I'm also fan boy at this point. I have 4 now, a ctr in 308, a ctr in 6.5creed, a t3 in 243, and a stainless 223, every one of them either outshoot or damn near match everything else i have. They just plain shoot

Had some unexpected velocity increase around 600 rounds in. Been just patching till then, accuracy was only slightly worse. Bronze brush, cleaned suppressor. 10 round zero check. Velocity is back to where it was and gun is shooting well.

Ten in there. Furthest right was me. Same load since the beginning

Shot my new (to me) 6.5 CM Tikka CTR 20” barrel yesterday. I’m shooting 147 ELDM factory ammo. First 10 shot group (200 yards) had some nasty keyholing and I’m not too happy with the vertical dispersion. I also had an SD of 23 FPS but seems pretty bad for Hornady match great ammo.

Then I brought it out to 400 yards for a 9 shot group and well I did notice some keyholing, there seems to be less.

Can anyone with more experience figure out what’s going on? Should I try a lighter bullet?

I don't see any key holing. Just ripped paper, looks normal to me.

Swapped my 6cm from a KRG Bravo into a Rokstok. I know some folks have had issues with Tikka PVA prefits fitting the Rokstok without opening up the barrel channel. My stock is the 3b/Ace#3 channel and the barrel is a Brux#4 contour from PVA and it fits perfect without modification.

First 10 shots in the rokstock, prone over a pack on 6x:

Oh ok thanks. I rarely shoot paper so it looked weird. I mostly shoot steel
Yeah, that isn't key holing. If you're concerned, shoot some cardboard or thicker paper like a stick on target and you'll see the true shape of the hole more clearly.

An SD of 23fps isn't causing vertical at 400.

When you post a paper target, trying to get it tight and flat if possible. If it bulges off the backer, you can get odd tears. You’re not key holing

Ok yeah seems like everyone agrees that’s not keyholing. It just looked odd to me. I typically shoot steel and when I do shoot paper, it’s typically thicker paper as mentioned by @General RE LEE. I’ll try it out next weekend.

Ok I was just thinking the higher SD was slightly noticeable, but of course will get worse at longer ranges. I’m under the impression that’s not great for good quality factory ammo. I’m not the best shot so I’m happy with those groups, but I just want to tinker with what I can to minimize the rifles impact on misses.

Thanks
