What kind of buckles do you have on the KU longs. I got one and have the KU adapters in route but it seems like too much crap on them.

My first year with this set up, this photo is loaded for a five day sheep hunt and worked extremely well. My shelter and air mattress are on the outside, I also carry dry sacks to put more of my camp on the outside in the event sheep meat goes on the inside. Next year I'm going to up grade my mattress to a much lighter and packable one.

Those are Dock and Locks. The buckles that came with the KU where taken off and I added the Dock and Lock. Here is photo below. They are the 1 inch but work fine with the 3/4 inch straps on the KU.

My Late Season G2 with 3 KU Longs and Medium Pod at top. Completely love this setup because the KU Longs and pod weigh so little that I can put them in a stuff sack and not worry about them. But when I get Meat ready for the bag, all my pack gear goes in the KU Longs and Pod and the Meat goes in the Pack. This is a sickness I tell you what.....

Holy shit! I could not roll that way in N. Idaho. I would rip the hell out of those KU pods/pockets! I do like the ingenuity and the Late Season is sweet.

Do you use the KU Longs/Pods as the actual stuffsacks inside the pack until you need to attach them outside for when you haul meat? Seems that would be better (and slightly lighter) than leaving them empty and stuffed into a stuffsack...unless I'm missing something...

Sorry, I should have given you that idea at 4pm so you don't have to sit at work and think about it all day lol

The only thing I can think of that would be a "con" to using them as stuff sacks is the shape of them possibly leading to a little deadspace in your pack (which may not be any more than a regular stuff sack)...but that'll depend on how stuffed you get them I guess.

How many days would that setup be for?

Wow! Then I guess I don't feel so bad about leaning toward the HC4800 over 7000. Lots of people seem to think it's not enough capacity.

Just realized that we're making a discussion thread out of your pic thread...oops...maybe in the next few months I'll be able to add my own pic :)
