Shoulder mount - straight or slightly turned?

Went back and forth on this myself and ended up doing a slight turn favoring his stronger side. There’s a separate thread on here under the sheep heading with a lot of great ideas and pictures of sheep mounts.

I feel the straight head - which I have a couple - look more like a Victorian era head on the wall. The turn gives it some “life.” My preference on future mounts is a turn with a slight offset to the base (shoulders).

Turns are always better. If you do a wall pedestal it will give it a nice turn with the head usually facing straight out so it doesn’t matter which wall you can put it on. Here’s a few I’ve done. Some were wall pedestals, some converted to a wall pedestal, one Barbary sheep was a half life size I converted to a wall pedestal.

Shoulder mount on a blue sheep?! Breaking my heart amigo!

Mine is almost finished- here is an idea what a blue sheep would look like with a turn. I know it’s full body, but not a whole lot of blue sheep mounts out there.

I browsed through some of my trophy room coffee table books and found some shoulder mounted blue sheep to give you a better idea:

That is stunning—the detail in its fall coat really stands out. I get why one would do a full mount. However, I'm not that into taxidermy for myself but do appreciate what everyone else does!

Thank you! To be fair my dall and chamois is shoulder mounted, I’m defiantly not a full body only on sheep. I considered shoulder as well, but the detail in the coat made me reconsider
