Should I leave the duct tape out of the pack?

I don't know what tenacious tape is, but it has to be Every bit as good and better to replace duct tape.

Yeah, that claim on the package says it's pretty much blows DT out if the water. But I don't know? I think I'll do the same and carry both for a while and do some experimentation .

I just read up on Tenacius Tape, sounds worth varying primarily for tent, tarps, bags, packs and anything else synthetic.

I don't think I would use it to replace my DT in the first aid kit or covering my barrel in inclement weather.

To me the simple answer comes down to cost. I carry Tenacious Tape and Aquaseal UV (based on recommendations from here) but only in limited quantities. I just glanced quickly but I think you get 3" x 20" of TT for $5. I reserve it for emergencies where it will shine but I also have duct tape for other less intensive uses where I can blow throw it and waste a bunch and not worry about it.

Maybe the tenacious tape would have worked great but DT saved my a$$ last fall when I lost my Havalon on the first day of my CO backcountry hunt. (thick brush pulled it off my pocket. Note to self don't use the clipp.)

Boned out my entire buck with a stick and replacement blade.

I carry both. Several feet of TT in my possibles and a little more DT wrapped around both trekking poles.

I agree with leukotape being good for medical uses. I wear an insulin pump and it's usually attached to my stomach somewhere. In the past my pump has worked it's self out due to sweat, movement and rubbing. I had tried all different kinds of tape to help secure the pump site, but none worked. However, when I used the leukotape I was able to go entire trips without having an issue. I know my use is much different then most guys, the point is the stuff stays secure.

Duct tape is not in my pack, its on my trekking poles. I take T tape for small fabric repairs so about 6 inches only. Leukotape for medical care use. Installed on the feet before the trip and about four feet wrapped around a dowl for later on. The adhesive appears to be air activated so once you unspool it and try to resue it off the dowl it loses some of its adhesion ability. Thats why you install it before the trip and don't worry about it for 7 to 10 days. It will loosen up if you wash with soap or hand sanitizer.

I always carry a small amount of Gorilla Tape, but rarely use it. For blisters, which are almost never an issue for me, I carry a few fabric bandages. Looking to give that Leukotape a try next season.

I was pretty impressed with the leukotape. Fist time to use it this year. I applied it on moist feet and it still was painful to take off after a few days!

That said, I still like to have different tape for different uses.
Duct Tape - General Purpose
Leukotape - medical/blister prevention
Tenacious Tape - Gear Repair
Electrical Tape - Rifle Barrel Cover

The weight penalty for having a foot or so of each on hand is minimal.

Duck tape is to useful to leave out of a pack! Literally a million used from patching up a truck part to make it home to using it to tape a hole in your gear. Keep it and add some luekotape.

Right on, thanks for commenting everyone. A little T tape in the pack with some duct on the poles for me for now
